Privacy
What we collect
- Waitlist: the email address you give us.
- Your account: your email, name and phone number.
- Your home inspection report: the PDF you upload, and the home profile we build from it: systems, conditions, maintenance tasks and notes. Reports can contain your address and other personal details.
- Nameplate photos: if you scan an appliance label, the photo you take, the text we read from it (make, model, serial number and similar), and the details you confirm. We remove location data and other hidden metadata from the photo when you upload it, but the photo itself can show whatever is in the frame, so keep it to the label.
- What you do in the app: your questions to the assistant and answers to interview questions, tasks you complete, projects you start, and basic usage records.
How we use it
To build and run your home profile and maintenance plan, to answer your questions, to email you sign-in links and notices about your account, and to fix problems. If we can't read your report automatically, a person on our team looks at it so we can finish your profile. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
Who processes it for us
We use a small set of service providers, and only for running Ownercare:
- Anthropic reads your uploaded report and your nameplate photos and powers the assistant, which means the report text, the photos and your questions are sent to Anthropic's API. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, that data is not used to train its models.
- DigitalOcean hosts the application and its database, and holds our backups.
- Resend sends our email (invitations and sign-in links).
- Cloudflare manages our domain's DNS and receives email sent to our contact address.
We share information beyond that only if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, report and home profile until you ask us to delete them. When you do, we delete your account and everything attached to it, including the uploaded PDF. Nameplate photos are kept for 30 days after you save or cancel a scan, then deleted automatically. The appliance details you saved stay in your home profile until you delete them or your account. Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes. Backups roll off on a short schedule after a deletion.
Your choices
Email hello@ownercare.ai to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. We will reply within a few business days.
Security
Sign-in is by one-time email link, with no password to leak. Traffic to the app is encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if something affects your information.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters to you, we will email you before it takes effect.
